Taste of Sydney kicked off with a bang on the Thursday evening - it's so good to attend an opening night when the electrical current of apprehension is in the air and everyone is giving their best.
Fantastic live music from the Opera Bar Bandstand set the vibe on arrival, the organisers got that right with soulful jazz, ambient jazz and acid jazz holding sway ... a perfect tone for foodies, socialites and cocktail and wine aficionados sounding out across the lawns ...
Colossal white tents dominated the landscape, exuding a Lawrence of Arabia mystique with excellent lighting displays accelerating the mood as the sun set over Sydney and a tantalising, joyous night crept in.
And the food? Oh so very amazing ... and the wines, adorable whether sampled or swigged, and the cocktails ... and champagne, so much was so great that I cannot single out a single name other than to say that the very best of the Sydney food industry was in the house ... and pumpin' ...
I was back on the Saturday afternoon and my 4-year-old son loved it too - so many ice-creams - like everything else there - simply to die for.
